Jeremy Clarkson has spoken candidly about his experience using the increasingly popular weight loss injection Mounjaro, revealing that while the medication helped him shed a significant amount of weight, it also came with some surprising changes he had not fully anticipated.
The Clarkson’s Farm star, who is now 65, has lost around three stone after using the weekly jab and has described the results as impressive. However, during a recent interview, Jeremy admitted that the transformation has not been limited to the number on the scale.
Speaking to The Sun, the television presenter explained that one of the most noticeable differences has been a slight change in how sharp he feels day to day. He shared that he sometimes finds himself thinking of the right answer just a little too late, particularly while filming quiz-based shows such as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?. According to Jeremy, there are moments where he immediately realises what he should have said, only after the opportunity has passed.
He also mentioned feeling more irritable than usual, although he was quick to point out that it is difficult to say whether the medication is entirely to blame. Alongside that, he touched on changes to his libido, adding that at his age, it is not always easy to determine the exact cause.
Despite these experiences, Jeremy noted that he has not suffered from some of the side effects that are commonly associated with weight loss injections. Constipation, which is often reported by users of similar medications, has not been an issue for him.
The former Top Gear host also reflected on how his body has changed in unexpected ways during his weight loss journey. One of the more unusual effects, he revealed, is that his feet appear to have become smaller. Shoes that fitted him comfortably last year are now loose enough to slip off while he is walking. He joked that he might be the first person to ever lose weight specifically from his feet.
Jeremy explained that the weight loss took place gradually over six months, and while progress has slowed recently, he is feeling noticeably healthier. He shared that he is now able to walk for longer periods and keep up better when taking the dogs out, which has been a welcome change in his daily routine.
The broadcaster also made a lighthearted comparison about his current physique, saying he is technically closer in size to model David Gandy than he was a year ago, although the difference is minimal. Still, the improved mobility and overall boost to his wellbeing have made the process worthwhile for him.
Mounjaro, which has gained attention across the UK and beyond, is the brand name for tirzepatide. The drug works by mimicking two hormones in the body that help regulate appetite and blood sugar levels. According to medical experts, including GPs who specialise in obesity management, the injection has been approved in several regions for treating type 2 diabetes and supporting weight management in adults with obesity or weight related health conditions.
Pharmacists have also highlighted that tirzepatide targets both GLP 1 and GIP receptors, which is what sets it apart from other weight loss injections currently on the market. This dual action can lead to stronger appetite control when paired with lifestyle changes such as improved diet and regular exercise.
Doctors continue to advise that while medications like Mounjaro can be effective, individuals may experience a range of side effects as their bodies adjust. Commonly reported reactions include nausea, bloating, diarrhoea and reduced appetite, though these symptoms often ease over time.
For Jeremy Clarkson, the experience has been a mix of impressive results and unexpected quirks. While some effects have taken him by surprise, the overall improvement to his health and mobility has clearly made a difference to his everyday life.
